Whoi we are

Who We Are

Shraddha Maanu Foundation is a Not-for-profit organization working as an Educational NGO in Chennai. Our organization understands there is a  gap in education. And, we are working towards providing equal education for underprivileged children. Our focus is on creating “Happy and Effective classrooms” by teaching primary education for all these children

As an Educational NGO organization in Chennai, we believe investing in education for underprivileged children is an investment for the future. We strive to provide equal education for all children by getting them the primary education they need. Our educational NGO provides after-school education for underprivileged children

Shraddha Maanu teaches the children here with the help of Multiple Intelligence. We believe that Multiple Intelligence is an effective way of teaching children. Multiple Intelligence is an evidence-based theory developed by Professor Howard Gardner. This helps us get to know our students better and lets us teach in a way each student will understand.

The Issue

According to the ASER 2017 report (in rural India)

■ About 25% of youth in the age group of 14-18 still cannot read basic text fluently in their own language.

■ More than half struggle with division (3 digit by 1 digit) problems.

■ Only 53% of all 14 year-olds in the sample can read English sentences. Of those who can read English sentences, only 79% can say the meaning of the sentence

theissue

Thanks to the Right to Education Act (RTE) of 2009, near universal enrolment and automatic promotion through elementary stage have resulted in more and more children successfully completing elementary schooling. However, many children lack foundational skills.

Our Approach

Education is an investment

We believe investing in education is an investment for our future. What children learn today is later woven into the fabric of our society.

Learning has to be joyful

We firmly stand by the fact that, learning is permanent and effective when the process of learning is joyful. We work with schools both in the rural and urban setting, catering predominantly to First generation learners or students with very little support from their families for their education.

Focus of our Work

The focus of our work is educating and creating a nurturing and a non- threatening ecosystem within schools. The core of our work involves training and hand holding primary school educators who transform students from “passive listeners to active learners”. All this is done by a motivated team of educated, enterprising women with an insatiable thirst to create a perceptible value to the society.
